There’s no denying the success of Disney’s Encanto. Social media is full of TikToks and posts of people posing with, dressing like and sining along with their favorite character(s).
So…who’s your match?
First, let’s make sure you know them all. Ready?
Come on! It’s time for a Madrigal Family roundup.
- Maribel – Seemingly average, nothing special sets Maribel apart from her family (so she thinks). She sits in the background celebrating each family member and their unique quality. All the while, she wonders when it will be her turn. She’s patiently waited and now she longs to shine like the rest of her family.
Luisa – carries the weight for everyone in the family. She’s the strong one. She moves mountains, fixes problems, carries the burden without ever showing emotion. Yet, under the surface, she’s one step away from cracking under the pressure. Everything always depends on her. Quietly, she questions her worth wondering, “Who am I if I can’t carry it all?”
Isabela – Ahhh, the perfect golden child who can do no wrong. Her life’s always been perfect or so it seems. On the inside, she longs to break free from the trap of perfection. She dreams of forging her own path. Instead, she finds herself captive to the expectations of others and their dreams for her.
Dolores – Quietly, she observes the family. Although she keeps everything to herself, unless she’s asked, she is quite perceptive, knowing more about everyone and what’s really going on within the family than anyone thinks. Although quiet, she’s not naive. In fact, she’s much wiser than anyone knows.
Bruno – The black sheep of the family, Bruno is the uncle no one talks about. He’s been estranged from the family for so long the next generation only knows what they’ve heard which hasn’t been good. From his point of view, he never meant any harm. True he’s a bit eccentric, but he loves his family deeply. So much, in fact when he left, he didn’t go far. He just became invisible.
Abuela – As the family matriarch, she has the final say. She loves her family to a fault, holding onto traditions and people too tightly for fear the past might repeat itself. She thinks she’s doing what’s best to protect her family, to ensure they’ll never have to endure the pain she went through. All the while, her unrealistic expectations are causing the very hurt and destruction she’s trying desperately to prevent.
Camilo – Constantly morphs himself into who he needs to be in the moment. He enjoys being in the spotlight and is very unfiltered, saying whatever comes to his mind.
Julieta – She loves her family more than anything. She’s also learned everything can be healed through a meal. She’d rather fix you a plate than sit and have an honest conversation.
Pepa – No matter how hard she tries, her emotions drive her reactions. In turn, her moods alter the temperature of every room, affecting the rest of the family and even ruining events. She hates this is the case and tries to control herself. Unfortunately, more often than not, her emotions get the best of her.
Antonio – While shy, he has the biggest heart. He has a special connection to animals and to his favorite cousin, Maribel. He’s loyal, loving, compassionate and kind.
So…now that you know everyone, which character are you? Answer in the comments.
